For family and followers that are not on social media, we wanted to share Hudson's birth video here.

Hudson's Birth Story

Image
It feels so surreal to be typing this with a newborn sleeping next to me. I don't know that the feeling of this not being real will ever go away. Every time I'm holding him, I feel like I'm just waiting for someone to come and take him away. But each morning we wake up, he is still here!! It's crazy to look at him and see so much of Brandon. He's really our baby!! I was pregnant for 22 of the last 29 months, and finally, we got to bring a baby home. But of course, because this is our life, nothing could be easy about getting him here. Up until Monday last week, Hudson was breech, and we didn't really expect him to flip. We'd had a c-section scheduled, but when we went in for our final ultrasound and saw that he had flipped, I was SO happy. I didn't really love the idea of a c-section, so being able to reschedule our induction was awesome. Brandon and the ultrasound tech tried to convince the doctor to send us to the hospital right then, but he said no...

37 Week Bumpdate

Image
June 18, 2018 Hudson! I’m writing this bumpdate the day before we actually hit 37 weeks, because there is no way I’m going to have enough focus to do it in the morning. Today was your dad’s first day of leave, so we had planned to sleep in, but I woke up at 7:00 and was too excited to really sleep anymore. I just wanted to lay there and feel you move! I don’t know how either of us are going to be able to sleep tonight. We tried to have big plans for our last weekend at home without kids, but it ended up just being a big distraction-fest. We took the dogs out on Friday, had dinner, and then just sat around all night. Saturday we went to check out a new shopping center, but didn’t even end up getting out of the car to walk around. After that we looked at houses, then basically laid around the house all evening. Sunday was Father’s Day, your dad’s third, so I gave him a frame that says best dad ever, love Carter, little bean, and Hudson. He really liked it! That afternoon I went to lun...

Our Last Friday Alone

Image
Every day since Tuesday this week, Brandon and I keep saying to each other "last Wednesday without a baby!" We say it every single day because we are seriously so excited. We have been waiting for our lives to change in this way for three years now, and it is finally about to happen! A lot of people (I feel like) have a whole list of things they want to do before they have a baby, or they get nervous about the way their new baby will affect the way they are currently living, The other day I asked Brandon what he is most looking forward to about having Hudson here, and his answer was not something that most people would probably say. He told me that he is simply looking forward to adding another dimension to our lives. He's ready to take Hudson places with us and introduce him to the world. He said "I know it will take longer to do things and we'll have to plan a little bit more, but I'm excited for it." When we told my parents we were pregnant with Ca...

36 Week Bumpdate

June 12, 2018 ONE MORE WEEK!!!! Hudson, we only have one more week until we get to meet you!!!!!!!!!!! We are so excited!! It’s starting to feel like we are actually going to get to bring you home. Honestly, it doesn’t feel real. We have been waiting so long to bring a baby home that it still doesn’t feel like that’s what is going to happen. It’s crazy. And we can’t wait! The last week has been a little exciting. At our appointment on Wednesday last week, the doctor decided to schedule us for three more appointments, in addition to the one we already had scheduled. We went in for an ultrasound on Friday and found out that you are breech. So that’s awesome. We’re going to watch you for the next week and see if you flip, but if you don’t, then we’ll have to do a c-section. We went in for a non-stress test yesterday and ended up getting to see you on the ultrasound again, and you are still breech. Just flip over!! You would have more room if you’d put your head down!! We’re going in to...

Freezer Meal Prep

When I was pregnant with Carter, we teamed up with Brandon's brother and his wife to make freezer meals that could later be cooked in the crock pot. They were SO nice to have, so when she offered to come help me put some together before Hudson gets here, I immediately said yes! On Saturday we made 8 meals for each couple, out of which we can usually get at least four servings (I would say it's usually closer to six). It comes out to about $1.75 per serving, and they are so good!! I thought I'd share the recipes with you, just in case you want to make freezer meals of your own. It took us about two and a half hours total, but now we are stocked and ready for the tired, don't-want-to-cook, parent life! ***Meatballs and Tomato Sauce INGREDIENTS 1 bag frozen meatballs or homemade meatballs 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes 2 tsp dried Italian seasoning ½ tsp minced garlic 1 Tbsp dried parsley flakes 1 tsp dried oregano PREP Label gallon size freezer bag with name of recipe,...

Maternity Photos

Image
I am SO excited to share these pictures with you!! We got them taken the Sunday of Memorial Weekend and weren't sure if we were going to get them back before Hudson came, but we did! Sugar Rush Photography did such an incredible job, and I highly recommend them to anyone in and out of the Salt Lake Valley! When we were pregnant with Carter, Brandon's aunt took maternity photos for us, but we didn't really get to share them as much as we wanted to. We lost him not long after we got them back. But there was never a doubt in my mind that I wanted to have maternity pictures taken again this pregnancy. For a little while I wondered if it would be hard to take the pictures, because we are missing some family members, but I told myself that even if it was hard, we had to do it. I'd rather have the pictures and never look at them than not have them and wish we did. Luckily, it wasn't hard to get them done. We got to include Carter and little bean, and overall just docu...

35 Week Bumpdate

Image
June 5, 2018 Happy birth month, little baby!! As of today, we have two weeks until we get to meet you, and I can’t believe it. These last few months have gone by so quickly, yet somehow not fast enough. But it’s finally June, and we are so close! My anxiety has been so awful these last couple weeks. I struggle with trying to do or think about anything besides you and your movement, so any time my focus is taken off of you, I get insanely cranky. Your poor dad has been such a good sport and is taking such good care of us, even though I don’t necessarily deserve it all the time. I am just ready for you to be here so I can stop worrying about you getting here. Luckily, you are moving so much still. On Saturday we were 34 weeks and 4 days pregnant, the same gestation as we were the day I didn’t feel Carter move. I appreciated you being so wiggly throughout the day, giving me constant reminders that everything was okay. Just keep doing that every day, okay? I will feed you whatever foods...

52 Lists - Week 21

Image
Sorry, two posts in one day, but I have to roll these out together to get caught up! This last week's list asked me to talk about the best opportunities that others have given me throughout my life. Brandon and I talk a lot about how everything in life has directed the path to where we are now. If certain things hadn't happened, we could be somewhere completely different. So essentially, every opportunity I've been given has allowed me to end up where I am now, which is somewhere I would not trade for anything. My opportunities start with everything my parents have given me. Living a nice life, being able to pursue hobbies and interests, going to college to get a good education. I was given so many opportunities as a child (and teenager, and young adult) and I will always be grateful to my parents for that. There are a lot of in between opportunities that I was given that have molded who I am now, but the best of them are the ones that have led me to being a mom to our b...

52 Lists - Week 20

Image
I am behind on these lists for real now!! It's kind of sad, but blogging has taken a backseat to everything else at this point. I think it's partially because I have too many emotions to even write about. People would just get tired of them haha. But let's dive right in! The list for week 20 asked me to list the happiest people I know. I'm not going to name names here, but instead I wanted to list the reasons why I think they are the happiest people. There are shared traits I see in these people that I believe strongly contribute to their daily and overall happiness. These people look at the positive things in every situation, build others up instead of tearing them down, and laugh at the smallest of things. I have one friend specifically that is all about supporting her girlfriends, and it makes me feel so honored to be her friend. I have never heard her say one bad or catty thing about her friends; she is their biggest hype person and it's awesome. I think that...

Hudson's Nursery!

Image
We finally redecorated the nursery! I was afraid it would be difficult, but it was actually easier than I thought it would be. Taking everything down was weird, but putting all the new things back up felt really good. I can't imagine having to take everything down for no reason, so I'm glad that Hudson is our reason for taking all of Carter's things down. Sometimes when I stop and think about it, it breaks my heart that Hudson won't know his big brother. Not in the earthly sense, anyway.  But moving on. For a long time, we have known that sailboats would be the theme for Hudson's room. There is a little something more fun behind it, but I'll share that after he's born. Using sailboats just felt right. I found the crib sheet, which has sailboats on it, in the perfect colors, green and navy blue, and even got to incorporate a little bit of Carter blue.  The art above the crib is my very favorite piece that we found. I was looking for a nautical map, but cou...
